Five contemporary Korean artists JAES LEE, RORI HEE, LEE.K, WOORI BAI, and DIAN CHUNG make their debut in Macau, collaborating with Artelli to present A Midsummer Bakery 

This exhibition highlights the small happiness and sweet moments that are easy to miss in our busy lives. In a space filled with the warm aroma of freshly baked bread, the crisp sound of cookies just out of the oven, and the rich scent of freshly brewed coffee, we find a moments of rest for our hearts. These simple moments are what make our lives richer and more special.

The 5 Korean artists have captured the sweetness of everyday life on canvas through their unique perspectives. Using various materials and techniques, artworks traverse the boundaries of reality and imagination, offering viewers sensory and heartwarming moments that can be experienced in daily life.

DIAN CHUNG (B.1995. S.Korea)

DIAN CHUNG pursued her studies in Graphic Design and Illustration at the University of Brighton in the United Kingdom and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, USA, in 2022. Currently based in Seoul, South Korea, CHUNG DIAN actively explores her artistic endeavors, captivating audiences with her unique fusion of female figures and dolls in her artwork. 

The serene atmosphere and calmness depicted by her subjects form the central narrative of her creations, often seen as reflective self-portraits that embody the fashion aesthetics of Korea and emanate a natural sense of relaxation.

JAES LEE was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1997. 

Popular with the public for his iconic love-eyed couple paintings which were widely used as SNS avatars. 

His chosen subjects often revolve around the themes of ambiguity and young love, evoking a sweet and subtle atmosphere that resonates visually with those who grew up after the 90s, exuding a compelling narrative and emotional impact. "Love and life" are key topics explored in his works, each painting conveying a spectrum of emotions and memories, akin to capturing precious moments frozen in a dreamlike state. With his adept mastery of form and color, JAES LEE's artworks possess a mature sense of control, showcasing his ability to blend elements of shape and color seamlessly. 

LEE.K (B.1983. S.Korea)

LEE.K (b.1983, South Korea) works and lives in Andong. 

With hundreds of thousands Instagram followers, his paintings are exhibited all over the world.
 

In the early days, he used graphite, pencil, and ballpoint pen to draw abstract portrait sketches and was called a master by many art students. He later became known to many BTS fans for his paintings of BTS Jimin, and many of his works were also collected by Jimin's father. 

The central theme of his works predominantly revolves around highlighting the adverse aspects of language through the concept of "negative language." The interplay of soaring lines, vivid color blocks, and polished facial features in the compositions creates a distinct visual contrast, generating visual tension.  

RORI HEE (B.1979. S.Korea) 

 
Warm hi We Need Warmth
You are a comfort to me

RORI HEE was born in Seoul, South Korea and studied Visual Art and Design at Jangan University. She worked as a cartoon designer and planner for Cyworld, the largest community website in Korea.  

Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. Since then, she has been fighting against the disease yet she never gave up her pursuit of art. In 2021, she was finally cured of cancer and officially resumed her artistic career. 

RORI HEE identifies herself with the image of a young girl in her artwork. Through her continuous exploration of art, she expresses her own sense of existence. The vibrant colors and playful imagination in her artwork reflect her longing for a brilliant life.  

WOORI BAI (B.1990. S.Korea)

WOORI BAI graduated from the school of Fine Arts at Silla University in 2012 and presently works and resides in Changwon, South Korea.  

WOORI BAI's works primarily focus on portraying the secluded daily life of a black cat and a forest girl. With a deft touch, she incorporates natural elements including forests, mountains, the moon, plants, and water columns to weave an imaginary realm, steeped in the spirituality of natural landscapes, imbuing her works with an ancient and tranquil mystique.
