Contemporary Japanese artist Hikari Shimoda's “Children of this Planet” has landed at Artelli, with its global debut at Zhang Garden in Shanghai. Her latest creations will also be simultaneously presented at the City of Dreams in Macau and Xinyi A13 in Taipei! Celebrated for her distinctive artistic style, Hikari Shimoda has held exhibitions in renowned galleries around the world, making her one of the most compelling contemporary Japanese artists of our time. As the season of rejuvenation unfolds, this highly anticipated event promises to transport art enthusiasts on an ethereal journey, embarking on a spaceship to discover the dazzling, dreamy universe masterfully crafted by Shimoda.
In “Children of this Planet”, Hikari Shimoda showcases her imaginative artistic style, depicting a world where cuteness and horror coexist through various art forms such as giant sculptures, graphic works, and installations. Shimoda portrays innocent and childlike characters in heroic costumes resembling superheroes and magical girls, serving as a mirror to our own fantasies of heroes while representing adults’ desire to nurture children and be the guardians of the future. It aims to evoke reflection and contemplation among audiences on modern society and the fate of humanity.
